Biomedical Informatics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Biomedical Informatics - Essay ExampleThe Six Sigma refers to a quality level that is prone to minimal operational or experimental errors. In statistical analysis, Six Sigma represents standard deviation that indicates the level of variation in an experiment or operation (Pokharkar et al. 1160). The highly disciplined strategy entails three elements that let in process improvement, re-design, and process management (Pokharkar et al. 1161).The Six Sigma strategy was initially dominant in the manufacturing industry where it played a noble role in meeting the clients needs based on the DMAIC method (Snee 4). However, other industries including the health care industry have since adopted the six-sigma strategy to address the heightened agonistic market pressures (Pokharkar et al. 1160-1163). Indeed, Lean and Six Sigma strategies have been fundamental in clinical and translational research where they enhance various processes. The strategy can achieve this by eliminating delays and erro rs, enhancing quality, and facilitating the timely adoption of biomedical discoveries. The NIH Roadmap for Biomedical Research and the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award program recognize the potential of the six-sigma quality improvements in clinical trials (Schweikhart and Dembe 748). Various scholars establish that Lean and Six Sigma relate and try to improve total quality management by deriving a more clear-cut and measurable operation. The strategy also quantifies results and aims at delivering certain quality improvements within a given period.Clinical trials rely on six-sigma quality improvements to concentrate on process management, adopt standardized method for monitoring process improvement, and making sure that the trials address the clients needs. In most cases, the six sigma strategy works unitedly with the lean strategy, which aims at improving delivery time, reducing operation costs, minimizing cycle times, and

The Emerald Forest by John Boorman Movie Review

The Emerald Forest by John Boorman - Movie Re bet ExampleApart from the difference in the authority structures of these two societies, their total life styles and cultures are different. Western modern society is developed and advanced in terms of engineering science and uses machine guns and weapons to fight, aero planes to travel and some other machines to cut complete forests and clear the land for construction, whereas the invisible people do not have much use of technology as they use arrows and spears to fight and travel by walking long distances (Proyect). As wanadi says, When I was a boy, the edges of the arena was very far away, but it comes closer each year. It means that western world is development in technology and now travelling across the entire world to reach far off places have become easy and fast. However, as technology is enhancing it is destroying the natural environment more (The Emerald Forest). Air pollution from the aero planes, cars etc have increased r esulting in various diseases affecting our respiratory systems when we inhale the oxygen make up in the air. Also the modern guns and weapons have resulted in the increasing demolition of mankind who are killed in massacres. The machines used to clear off forests have sunk the beauty of the world and the indigenous livelihood (The Emerald Forest). The natural resources are being depleted with the adoption of new technology. This is the reason that the people of the western world were called to be Termite as they cut d declare big trees and destroy the real world which is in forests (The Emerald Forest). The invisible people are loving, caring, fair people who calls the forest as their world, who keeps to themselves, away from western society and just want... Both the traditional culture and the culture of the western American societies have their own good and bad points but in my view, the culture of the invisible people is far better than that of the westerners. The reason is th at the invisible people were good hearted, loving human who were satisfied with their lives and were happily living with their people in their world. Their culture satisfies all their humanly demand like physiological needs of food, water, sex etc, the safety needs by providing them shelter, resources to survive, health, their emotional needs by providing family, love, and by giving a sense of community in which people can depend upon each other in time of their need, their esteem needs i.e. their culture teaches them how to respect others and confidence and finally the highest level of human need that is self-actualization by providing them problem-solving capabilities and morality. The traditional culture promotes otherworldliness and the feeling of community which makes them selfless people who unlike the westerners do not tear apart nature and others feel for their own needs or motives. This view is further supported by Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud and Emile Durkheim who also vie ws modern society as a misery in which people are unhappy and never to the full satisfied. Even though they all have the same conclusion, they have different reasons for their views. According to Karl Marx, this misery results from capitalism which divides society into two major groups Bourgeoisie and Proletaria.

Compare the moral theories of Kant and Aristotle. Argue for the Essay

Compare the moral theories of Kant and Aristotle. Argue for the favorable position of one or the other. Qualify your position however y - Essay ExampleThere are similarities in their views on the role and nature of knowledge and morality in the lives of human beings, while there are differences in the tenets that make up their philosophy. Aristotle, in his philosophy, maintains the importance of the soul in the acquisition of moral virtue. It is only by fulfilling the dictates of this soul, which is guided by reason that one would be able to achieve happiness. This happiness could be achieved by man, who was at the highest position in Aristotles teleological view of things. Man was at the highest position in his scala naturae, which means the Great Chain of Being, as a result of the possession of rationality and reason, unique to man, who maintains his superiority as a result of this rationality. The rational human person, the creature at the top of the biological ladder, would have a good character that arose out of the existence of moral virtue. To create this character, he would need the fortune to be tutored by somebody higher than him like a teacher, something that would be available only to the elect sections of the society. Aristotle himself was tutored by people like Plato and he was tutor to Alexander the Great. Contemporary Greek ideas and practices were thus, a great factor in the development of the theories of Aristotle.
